Tips to optimize your LinkedIn posts
From Jillian Richardson, your supreme cult leader and content queen
The 3-Round Post Writing Process
Round 1
Write it in a google doc. Make sure that it's less than a page. This also saves your writing in case anything happens to your LI.
Round 2
Cut extra words and phrases that don't need to be there. Simple is better!
Round 3
Make things funnier. Swap blah phrases for colorful confetti! THIS is what people are going to comment on.

Time-Saving Bonus Tip
Set a timer for 10 minutes or less, and force yourself to hit post when you're done. BE BRAVE. NOTHING MATTERS.
Post-Publishing Strategy
Stay Engaged
Make sure to stay online for at least 15 minutes after you post and engage in the comments. This will amplify your post and ensure it reaches more people. (It's also good for relationship building! Can't grow an audience if you never talk to them. Don't be antisocial.)
Generate New Ideas
Then, notice what questions you're asked in your comments section. Can you respond to any of those with posts? Free idea generation!
Not sure what to post for the next 5 days?
Get WEIRD
Where were you in your career, where are you now, where are you going?
Explain a popular trend in your industry that you DESPISE
Investigate the data of a ginormous win in your biz, explain why it happened
Really celebrate creators in your corner. Tag them + explain why they rock
Dive into a curiosity + ask your audience a question you want the answer to
Bonus Connection Strategy
Accept blank connection requests that are in your ICP. Shoot them a message and say something like:
"Hey! Did you find me through (post about X)?" That got more attention than I was expecting!
Make LinkedIn Posting a Party!
One of my biggest LinkedIn tips? Have fun with your writing... otherwise, you will be weighed down with Social Media Despair and quit. A lot of people post on LinkedIn with the mentality of “I have to do this” versus “I GET to do this.”
They write their words, spend an allotted 15 minutes engaging in the comments, and move on. It’s the internet equivalent of drinking a Huel. Gets the job done, but not satisfying.
Then, in a few months, they fade out and quit. Because posting is not giving them energy, it’s depleting them.
Want posting to actually be a PARTY?
Treat Writing as a Gift
Position writing as a shiny, sexy gift that you’re giving yourself. It’s an opportunity to process your life! So next time you write, sit down and think: “What did I learn this week?” Hello enlightenment!
Delight in Comments
Use commenting as bonus writing practice. Make jokes, play with your takes on business trends, and enjoy chatting with other people. If you see it as a DELIGHT, you’re more likely to do it– and others are more likely to play with you.
Ask Authentic Questions
Ask your audience questions that you ACTUALLY want the answer to. That way, people will be more likely to comment– they can smell earnestness– and you’ll get valuable insight for your business!
